Taught basic reading skills to a group of ten 1st-3rd

Taught grade PreK-6 students on an as needed basis for the
county. American
Pacific International School Chiang Mai, Thailand. 2003-2004. Taught Grade 3 to a class of Thai
national students at an international boarding school. Planned
curriculum for new third grade position. Administered reading, spelling,
and math inventories, and differentiated instruction to reach students
at native speaker to ESL learning levels.
Responsible for after school activities for
elementary/middle/high school students. Planned bi-weekly field trips
for middle/high school students on weekends. Lived as a residential
mentor in the dorm for middle/high school girls, and acted as a
supervised study hall proctor for middle/high school students in

County, Virginia Spring 2003. Taught grade K-5 students on an as needed
basis for the county, including a semi-permanent
substitute position for three weeks at Stony Point Elementary. 4th
grade Teaching Associate Stony Point Elementary Fall 2002. Planned and implemented a 3 week
unit on the culture of Western Africa prior to capture in the Slave
Trade and the introduction of slavery to Virginia. Included technology,
publication, and craft activities. Assessed entire 4th grade
on Rigby PM Benchmark reading scales. 2nd
grade Teaching Associate Baker-Butler Elementary Fall 2002. Assisted with setting up classroom
layout and designing daily schedule. Prepared and implemented a 3 week
unit on the States of Matter based on the Virginia SOL’s. Assessed
student learning with a Multiple Intelligences assessment, including
many technology options.

Museum of Natural History Intern Summer 2002. Served as a teaching assistant for nature camps for
students in grades 1-3 and 4-6. Co-planned week-long camps on
herpetology, entomology, and the uses of water. Also researched and
created a museum exhibit for the 2003 bicentennial of the Lewis &

intervention Hotline
January 1999-May 2002 completed semester-long training course in
empathetic listening to aid callers with variety of issues on a 24 hour
a day confidential hotline; committed 40-60 hours per semester for 6
semesters. Served as a trainer of new volunteers. UVA Alumni Co-Chair, Brown College Governing Board 2001. Maintained ties and facilitated communication with alumni who have graduated from the residential college. Planned a graduation reception for students and families. |

2002. Searched University of Virginia records from 1885-2002 for
articles about and images of Education School students to be used on a
website and in a published book commemorating the centennial anniversary
of the Curry School of Education. UVA
Department of Psychology: Early Childhood Development Lab; Research
Assistant
2000. Worked in a lab on theory of mind studies and managed
experiments for graduate research. Also planned a lesson on gender role
development for the Introduction to Child Psychology discussion section.

Rag & Bone is a student
run and published biannual literary magazine at the University of
Virginia with a staff of 15. ¨
Editor-in-Chief 2001-2002. The Editor-In-Chief is the highest position on this
magazine. Responsibilities include making final executive decisions,
overseeing meetings, coordinating staff correspondence, and supervision
of the production of one issue of the magazine per semester.

staff meetings when the Editor-In-Chief was absent. |
